Multi-Instrumentalist Musician, Performer & Songwriter

Hello! My name is Jay Smith, and I’m a full-time, multi-instrumentalist musician and songwriter with over 20 years of professional experience performing across Australia.

I play vocals, guitar, bass guitar, drums, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and also work as a DJ. Over the years, I’ve performed across a wide variety of genres — from pop, country, folk, and alternative to hardcore punk, metal, and dance. Whether on stage, in the studio, or writing for others, I bring passion, versatility, and a deep love for music to everything I do.

I write custom songs for clients, perform live at events, and regularly contribute to studio sessions and touring acts. I’ve had the privilege of performing with and for:

I currently release playful and genre-blending instrumental music under Blue-42, where I write, perform, and record all instruments from my home studio.

For live shows — weddings, corporate events, or private parties — I perform under the name Masterclass, offering solo, duo, or full band formats.

I also run Masterclass Mobile Music Tuition, offering in-person and online lessons across the Maitland region, covering guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and more.
